I hope everyone had a great weekend at the fair.
See you next year.

Renewable Energy Roundup – Saturday Selections

Here are my personal picks for Saturday 9/25 for each time slot. It is such a good lineup, I may have more than one selection for each slot. Again, you can't go wrong with these or any of the other presenters.

10:00 John Hoffner: How is the Message Transmitted? – Clean Energy and the Environment in the Modern Era of Information

11:00 Michele Hallahan: Greenwashing – the Green-Eyed Monster

12:00 Rainwater Collection: where have we been, where do we go from here?

2:00 Waking a Sleeping Giant: Greening the Church
2:00 Tadeusz Patzek: Energy, The US, and the Finite World

3:00 Eric Herm: Son of a Farmer, Child of the Earth
3:00 Thomas Isaac: Solar Water Heating for Home & Business
3:00 Amanda Love: Nourishing Foods Cooking Demo with Amanda Love, The Barefoot Cook (been a fan and client of hers – she makes magic with food!)

4:00 Wayne Jeansonne: Building Green in the Real World
4:00 Geothermal Systems – Reduce your Energy Consumption and your Carbon Footprint.

5:00 Robin Schneider: The Journey to Zero Waste… or Darn Close

Renewable Energy Roundup – Friday Favorites

I always enjoy going to the Renewable Energy Roundup. Here are my personal picks for Friday 9/24 for each time slot. You can't go wrong with these or any of the other presenters.

1:00 Judy Barrett: Herbs as an Alternative to Chemical Inside and Out
I have read her newsletter for years and found it informative. I also generally find chemicals to be an unnecessary allocation of resources that would be better used elsewhere.

2:00 John Umpress: Net Zero Energy Homes – They're Easier Than You Think!
I have been to numerous seminars where John has presented and I always learn something. John speaks with a frankness that is refreshing: he challenges architects and builders and even questions the motives of the company for which he works, Austin Energy.

3:00 Dick Peterson: Build-A-Barrel Workshop
Many of my the permacultural strategies I use around my home and in my designs were transmitted to me via Dick Peterson. He is a wealth of knowledge and I am sure this seminar will veer into many of the realms that are adjacent to rainwater harvesting.

4:00 Lloyd Lee: Zero Energy Homes – Nuts and Bolts, Dollars and Sense
The City of Austin has mandated Zero Energy Capable homes by 2015. I am most interested in the dollars part of this presentation as budget is always the hardest nut to crack.

Riverdale Residence – Progress

U.S. Navy – Solar Powered Parking Lot

This is a big one.
Go Navy!
