Renewable Energy Roundup – Friday Favorites

I always enjoy going to the Renewable Energy Roundup. Here are my personal picks for Friday 9/24 for each time slot. You can't go wrong with these or any of the other presenters.

1:00 Judy Barrett: Herbs as an Alternative to Chemical Inside and Out
I have read her newsletter for years and found it informative. I also generally find chemicals to be an unnecessary allocation of resources that would be better used elsewhere.

2:00 John Umpress: Net Zero Energy Homes – They're Easier Than You Think!
I have been to numerous seminars where John has presented and I always learn something. John speaks with a frankness that is refreshing: he challenges architects and builders and even questions the motives of the company for which he works, Austin Energy.

3:00 Dick Peterson: Build-A-Barrel Workshop
Many of my the permacultural strategies I use around my home and in my designs were transmitted to me via Dick Peterson. He is a wealth of knowledge and I am sure this seminar will veer into many of the realms that are adjacent to rainwater harvesting.

4:00 Lloyd Lee: Zero Energy Homes – Nuts and Bolts, Dollars and Sense
The City of Austin has mandated Zero Energy Capable homes by 2015. I am most interested in the dollars part of this presentation as budget is always the hardest nut to crack.
